Default CNG conversions

I'd like to gather as much info about CNG conversions and regulations. In PA, where I live, we have an abundance of natural gas, and I would like to make good use of it.

I want to convert my '85 F250 over to CNG, mainly because it would be a simple system since it is not fuel injected.

Being a truck, I have room for a rear tank (30 liquid gal size) and perhaps another 19 gal tank across the tank..

I am guessing that is only about 14 GGE.?? Any one have any calculations to figure liquid tank size to GGE?

I want to be able to run dual fuel so I don't have to walk if I run out of CNG.

Would love to hear your opinions..

Talking Conversion Kit

If you have heard of mycngkit, they are the main ones that sell the best kit out there - the kits Galileo of Argentina makes. Mycngkit USED to be the main distrubuter in the US, but another company ( CNGOutfitters.com) took over, since I heard they were not delivering some orders, and taking him 2 months to get them ordered and delivered.

CNGOutfitters have upgraded the kits so that they are useable on US cars. They provide installation as well as support. They have a couple thousand kits that will be in the US within a couple weeks, but I imagine they will go fast. They will also be setting up distributer ships through NAPA and other service locations.

There is also technocarb. They are well established and have a lot of distributors that can help.

Make sure you get the correct tank. Some are dangerous and should not be used. Make sure they are DOT stamped and certified. The tank is the most difficult part of the system. They are extremely safe (NEVER blow up), but they have to be mounted properly.

Installing a kit by yourself will take around 30 hours. If you are somewhat comfortable working on your car, you can install it. If you can't change your own oil, have it installed.
